Freezing Buttercream?

Can I do this? will it keep ok?
Its just unsalted butter and icing sugar...

Oh god, I bet it tastes even more glorious when it's frozen. Like buttercream flavoured icecream.

IME you need to make sure its in an icecream tub or similar - the butter can absorb smells from other things in the freezer

It will keep for weeks in the fridge just like butter - just bring it out of the fridge a few hrs before you need to spread it. But yes, it will freeze. Have never eaten it frozen!

I will try freezing it and seeing what happens!

Actually just thinking, could I add some brandy or rum to make flavoured buttercream for Christmas?
Would that work? If so would the alcohol freeze ok?

I froze some chocolate buttercream after DD's birthday and used it this week. I put it in a freezer bag and defrosted before reusing this week. Put a bit of milk in to soften it up (was a bit hard originally anyway).
