has anyone made a tomato sauce based fish pie

my DD2 is on a cows milk free diet at the moment to help with her eczema and constant cough. I could make a fish pie with goats milk white sauce but DD1 is being a bit precious saying she doesn't like goats milk....

has anyone made a fish pie with a tomato based sauce, was it nice and what did you put in, have had a look on google but would prefer something tried and tested. Seen Jamie Oliver's one in his ministry of food but sounds a bit dry as no real sauce.

Never made it, but always planning to. O love fish but hate cheese and milk etc. I'd say if you got a tomato based seafood sauce recipe for pasta and added more fish it would work well.
I think I'll give it a go myself this weekend.

I have not made a tomato sauced based fish pie no but am sure it would be delish. Why not try the lactofree milk or can she not have this either? Grin

have tried with tomatoes, bit of an experiment. onions, garlic, carrots, chopped tomatoes, bit of sugar, salt and pepper, basil (not sure about this) and a bit of chilli, cod and then topped with mash we will see what it is like.

kitcat could use lactofree milk or goats milk but wanted to see if this worked.

I regularly make this and everyone who's had it loves it (including picky DD):

flake a packet of smoked mackerel into the bottom of the pie dish
cover with a layer of cooked/defrosted spinach
cover with a tin of ratatouille
cover with either mash or potato slices (I par-bake the spuds in the microwave if doing slices)

Heat through in a hot oven for about 20-30 mins.

It's yum.:)

My three DD have food intolerances including dairy. Amazingly ratatouille tins often have lactose added, why I do not know but worth reading the label!
