Slow cooker Q

I'm trying to make my favourite soup in the slow cooker, but am unsure as to how much fluid I need to add - any advice? I'm sure I read somewhere you should put half the amount in that you usually would, does that sound like a good rule of thumb?

I reduce the amount of liquid only if I'm making a stew/casserole. Haven't done so with soups, and they've been fine.

Thanks!
