ordering wine

can anyone suggest any good wine companies? I want to send some wine to a relative. I thought there used to be a company called Wine Direct but when I put that into the search engine it came up with hundreds of names. I just want to send a nice bottle of red and ditto one of white. Not over the top expensive but not cheap and nasty either! Any anyone used a company they could recommend?

Thanks

Laithwaites are good and the delivery is quick and reliable - maybe too late now though?

I have found Virgin Wine good - regularly use them and Laithwaites

yes Virgin is very good value and customer service

Majestic is excellent but they only do cases. I thought the others did cases only as well, or am I wrong?
You could go via a merchant, this one is good - they are burgundy specialists not just US wine merchants.

in a recent newspaper review
waitrose wines got a good vote
virgin wines got slated for its choice. It was written by a wine expert and he reckoned that the Virgin variety boxes were pretty dull.
