... What shall I use as fillings? It's all going to be fishfinger shaped, as ds loves them, but what else can I put in them? I don't mind faffing about a bit.

Or do you all think I am dreadfully common to be providing orange breadcrumbed food?

Am a bit bemused at the thought of buying breadcrumbs tbh. Can't you just whizz some, y'know, bread in a blender?

you could make chicken nuggets, or scotch eggs (with or without the sausagemeat), bits of mozzarella or camembert as a kind of cheeseball thing...

I'm not faffing about with bread. They were only 50p for 3 packets, so dead cheap, and nothing artificial in them.

I was thinking more along the lines of veggy type stuff, he has a very good diet meat and fish wise, will eat mackerel, rabbit, chicken on the bone etc,.

well, you could maybe do a kind of veggie burger that's like a fishcake but with veg - so (prob leftover) potato and other veg mashed and made into cakes, dipped in egg and rolled in breadcrumbs and then grilled.
