When I've been working I find it a real chore to go home and start cooking a meal from scratch. I'm looking for ideas that are quick, easy, tasty and nutritious (SP?)

Any takers?

sad and lonlely meal for me as dh is still abroad. mushroom tortellini parmesan cream and Becks beer

CP · 16/10/2003 18:32

Followed by a relaxing bubble bath and an early night, with the bed all to yourself... Nice.

codswallop · 16/10/2003 18:34

too right Claire!

AND its clean sheets tomorrow so I get 3 days of luxuriating!

codswallop · 16/10/2003 18:36

tortilla a la why mummy - really tasty. adn salad.

CP · 16/10/2003 18:36

You lucky girl. You should have your legs waxed tomorrow - it feels great on clean sheets. I had mine done on Tuesday and my bedding still feels like silk.

codswallop · 16/10/2003 18:39

I shave - I am not so hirsute really!!

I am finding I go to bed at 8 30 and watch tv (and drink beer in bed= awful!!!.) But its only a room I suppose.

Davros · 16/10/2003 18:47

Going to phone a Ruby and have some Budvar

As for shaving legs, I nearly fainted the one time I attempted it and felt sick, I'd rather go to the dentist

We're having sirloin steak, Tesco's finest Rosti and assorted veg. Unfortunately having to wait until 8pm as dh is late home, so am starving now.

slug · 16/10/2003 21:27

I've just been taken out for a belated birthday dinner by dh. Fabulous food, (Baltic Restaurant, Eastern and Middle European, with lots of vodka) much, much wine and dd at grandparents.

Angeliz · 16/10/2003 21:47

sad frozen pizza,,,,,,,,,,,,dd ate early and d.p is away...........not really worth the bother!Slug, have a lovely evening

CountessDracula · 16/10/2003 21:48

Dh is on his way home, we're going to have Cullen Skink from waitrose and french bread and cheese and Stoli and maltesers

Yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

whitewater · 16/10/2003 22:12

Fresh tagliatelle and 'pomadoro' (sp?) sauce from Waitrose, and tagliatelle, and then follwed instructions on back of sauce tub to add chopped up mozzarella (sp again?) cherry tomatoes and lots of basil, from plant which is actually surving after three months in our house! Basically forgot to take meat/fish out of freezer this morning, so went and shopped in lunchtime. Was delish and all done in 10 mins. Fab!

JulieF · 16/10/2003 23:43

Can I admit that a meal of corned beef baked beans and either smash or jacket potato is very common for me.

bossykate · 16/10/2003 23:57

yikes, cd, eating reptiles?

CountessDracula · 17/10/2003 10:03

Eurgh, I thought it was fish BK!

WSM · 17/10/2003 10:06

She's winding you up CD ! Skink is a type of lizard but Cullen Skink is a Scottish fish soup... Honestly, how gullible ?!

bossykate · 17/10/2003 15:17

i had some truly revolting "deluxe" nachos for dinner. how can anyone make nachos disgusting?? i think it was the horrid chilli they put over them, blech. i've eaten so badly this week.

yes, cd, just a little joke as i was rather bored, hope it didn't put you off, was it good?

my friend is coming for dinner and she has requested sausage & mash.
So more mustard mash, twice this week, what a shame! Scrummy taste the difference sausages - one pack has paresan, sundried tomatoes and basil in them - yum. Will have with onions and mushrooms with baked beans if she desires (she loves a bakedbean!). However might tempt her with a sausage casserole then DP can eat when he gets home or he can have it for his lunch tomorrow.

Northerner · 17/10/2003 15:25

Yuck. Dh and I had a bad experience with an Indian a couple of months ago. Can't bring myself to look at one now

Sandwiches and crisps in the car and maybe a cup of tea in a Little Chef if we're really lucky. We're travelling up to stay with MIL for nephew's christening - awwww!

Hate eating dinner out of a carrier bag....

Northerner · 17/10/2003 15:25

Indian food that is!

Ohhh, Little Chef - you lucky girls.

Last time I was 'on the road' and stopped at one of those places I asked for an omlette and the girl said they hadn't been delivered yet!! Not the eggs - the omlettes! Euuggggghhhhhhhhh!

jodee · 17/10/2003 20:56

Just made and eaten a scrummy lasagne - I used to cheat and just buy the dolmio sauces and chuck them over mince and lasagne sheets but found the easiest lasagne recipe ever in BBC Good Food magazine! Now I really, really CAN'T cook but dh reckons it's better than anything he's had in a restaurant!

marthamoo · 17/10/2003 21:17

We had smoked haddock in a butter and chive sauce (from Tesco's 5 minute fish range). Everyone liked it except ds2 who shovelled it all off his plate going "yeuuuch!" Had it with new potatoes and frozen peas. Dead easy.

Friday night is supposed to be take-away and bottle of wine night but dh is working all night..still I get the PC to myself, can't be bad!
