Simple but posh pudding ideas please

Perhaps the thread title should be dessert not pudding! Anyway, we're going to friends for dinner on Saturday night and I've offered to take pudding/dessert. I want to take a couple as some of us haven't got a sweet tooth while as others love stickiness and goo. Have you got any simple but impressive recipes please?

delia's chocolate bread and butter pudding. Totally indulgent, suprisingly yummy and most is made day before, just bung in oven on the day.

I have a fantastically simple one but I'm not sure how it would transport.

Put a selsection of soft berries in ramekins or pretty little dishes (strawbs, rasps, blueberries always nice). Then you make a dead simple but delicious sauce:
Break up 200g top quality white chocolate in a bowl. Heat a tub of double cream till just about to boil. Then pour the hot cream over the chocolate pieces. Leave for a couple of minuites, then stir till choc is melted (takes seconds). Leave to cool for a while (10-15 mins fine). Pour over berries. Then you can sift over a little icing sugar and grill on high till browned if you want.

My competition winning (posted it in recipes and won a holiday on here!) lime cheese cake, is ridiculously easy and a winner every time.

You will need:
A loose bottom tin (about 8inch)
one pack ginger biscuits
2 tubs of mascarpone
4 oz icing sugar
2 oz of melted butter
2 limes

Crush the biscuits, mix with melted butter and pack into tin. Chill. (the biscuit base that is, not you!)
Mix mascarpone with icing sugar and zest and juice of limes.
Spread over biscuit base.

Job done! You could jazz it up, with some grated chocolate or some mint leaves.

It mever fails to impress.

brandy snaps, posh ice cream and blackberry sauce/compote made by just stewing blackberries with loads of honey until squashable and then sieved. This is good as greedy people can have everything, fussy eaters just eat the ice cream, those just wanting a nibble of something sweet can have the biscuits or just dip their finger in the blackberry sauce

Thank you both so much. They both sound delicious but I think the cheesecake would be easier to transport. I like the idea of me chilling rather than the cheesecake. it's boiling here already and I've got a pile of ironing to do!
I could even do individual cheesecakes as I've always wanted an excuse to buy those ring things!

Summer Pudding. Leave it in the bowl/mould until you get there, then turn it out just before serving as it won't travel well if already turned out.

Why don't you take a pudding and a selection of cheese and crackers for less sweet teeth?

agree with bread and butter pudding - made one the other day. To make it extra special soak it overnight and make sure the raisons are also soaked in either brandy or masala.

Cheesecakes are so easy but need to be made a couple of days in advance to obtain the depth in flavour if using booze or chocolate.

Pavlova? You can make the meringue bit well advance.
Then take cream (whip either at home or at host's) and some berries.
Quickly assemble before you eat.

Looks much more impressive than it actually is.

I made summer pudding at the weekend. Stupidly easy and very tasty.

Thanks v much. Going to do cheesecake and chocolate mousse. Thought I could then sit back and drink rose! Im definitely doing the choc bread and butter pudding another time though.
