Is lasagne PASTA?

Papillon · 02/12/2005 08:20

My dh says he "considers" that lasagne is not pasta.

This fact was revealed after I said I did not want pasta again after 2 nights in a row of the stuff.

So if it is NOT pasta... what in fact is it?

It's Pasta - you DH is being silly!

Twiglett · 02/12/2005 08:23

it is pasta

obviously your DH is a marrow

NannyL · 02/12/2005 08:58

It is pasta.... its simply a sheet of pasta rather than being cut into shapes or made into spaghetti etc.

(but when i was much younger ie under 15, i genuinely thought rice was another form of 'pasta' as well!)

harpsiheraldangelssing · 02/12/2005 09:03

no no
it's not pasta
it is bed sheets for mice
or hamsters

Epiffany · 02/12/2005 09:04

I suppose being a man hos contention would be that there is more other stuff than pasta.
My DP would say exactly the same thing

Of course it's b;**dy pasta and if he's going to complain, make him cook the meals himself

deepandcrispandlummox · 02/12/2005 13:07

I thought this was going to be an "Is the pope a Catholic?"-type thread.

Tell him it is loo roll for real men.

Papillon · 02/12/2005 15:21

LOL Lummox - guess it would really get to the crack of things.

SoupDragon he is the cook atm - hence my request for no pasta tonite honey cos we already had it the last two nights.

He is otherwise a perfect mere male !

Ahhh.... I misread your original post.

In which case, stop complaining, woman, and eat the lasagne!

I live in Italy and can confirm Lasagna is in fact pasta. If you want to let him know that the word 'pasta' is used in italy to describe the process of mixing plour and water together to form the dough that makes what the food we eat. The dough used for pizza is called pasta as well.

MaryP0p1 · 02/12/2005 16:18

On a kinda unrelated thought does anyone remember the pasta trees???

DinosaurInAManger · 02/12/2005 16:19

Was that an April Fool joke on tv?

MaryP0p1 · 02/12/2005 16:19

Yes

Papillon · 03/12/2005 10:40

We did finally have the lasagne last night... it was very tasty, with one slight glitch... he did not put enough sauce and the lasangne was abit crispy. But I was very encouraging and said onwards and upwards, try again soon!

Dropping the word pasta into the conversation the entire time. It appears to have merged with his unconsious verbal language and he now is using pasta and lasagne in the same sentence.

Amazing though what gobshite people will come up with to defend their corner
