Using real flowers in cake decoration - PLEASE HELP !

Have just made cake for dd's christening tomorrow. It is white chocolate with a sort of white chocolate frosting over it. I have some cream roses to decorate it with but need some tips. If I just do a simple design on the middle of the top with say 4 roses (they are small sort of rose bud type roses) do I cut the stems short and then stick them in the cake ???

Any other ideas gratefully received by tomorrow morning please !!

Hi Hazellnut,
it sound lovely! you could sink a small vase, like a thimble, into the cake, and cut the stems off short and put them in. That would give a posy effect - is that what you are after?

that would have been perfect nightynight had I been organised enough to put the thought into it I should have done. However, am not convinced the cake could hold up to me doing this to it now (it hasn't worked out quite as successfully as I'd hope !).... Thank you very much for the idea though !

Am thinking of covering the stems of the roses with clingfilm and just poking them in....

Oh dear, why didn't I just order one from M&S ?!

because a home made one with real flowers is miles better!
Im sure that they will look fine just stuck into the cake. I love real flowers on cakes.

Nighty night - i did do the wrapping clingfilm round the stems and poking them in and it worked. Was really pleased with the effect. Thanks for your help last night !
