cook it like cabbage. It is loverleey.
Or stir fry with garlic and crispy bacon bits.

LadySherlockofLGJ · 24/11/2005 18:51

Strip it off the stalk, shred it, steam it, and serve it mixed in with creamed potatoes, with lots of butter.

Yummy

GREATauntymandy · 24/11/2005 18:52

yum

fruitful · 24/11/2005 18:52

Would that be from a veg delivery box?

They keep putting it in our boxes.

Its disgusting.

Maybe I need to boil it till its completely dead?

fruitful · 24/11/2005 18:53

Brassicas. Yuk.

I want chocolate.

spots · 24/11/2005 18:54

Not very flexible as veg goes but you can make a thick potato soup with curly kale in it. Use a good stock and lots of onion. A close alternative to that might be to serve it ether in or with cullen skink - smoked haddock baked in milk with mashed potato and onions.

Oooh ... it's so good for you, you know... I almost always have it as a side veg when we get the big bag thing, and you can just feel the vitamins coursing through your veins.

gingerbear · 24/11/2005 18:54

NO, don't boil til dead! steam for 8 mins tops!

mazzystar · 24/11/2005 18:55

FrenchKissUnderMistletoeGirl · 24/11/2005 18:57

starlover · 24/11/2005 19:02

fruitful · 24/11/2005 19:03

Hmm. I stir-fried it for 4 minutes, as per veg-box-people's recipe. Was it still raw, do you think?

Maybe I'll do the fry with garlic & bacon thing. I've got some "black kale" this week. Same thing, ish?

Perhaps I'll just fry the bacon in garlic and stick it between some bread...

Caligyulea · 24/11/2005 19:05

What about stir-frying it with tofu? Or mushrooms, with soy, ginger, sherry, chilie, garlic, spring onions, shredded carrots... um

It really is delicious.

so how long should i stir-fry for?

OP posts:
gingerbear · 24/11/2005 19:19

Do you like it crunchy or 'al dente'?
If al dente, then stir fry for 3 mins, then add a cup of water and put a lid on it for a minute or so until it softens up.
Can I come for tea?

starlover · 24/11/2005 19:21

no idea! have never had it before! my mum said she remembers it from school and it was always tough and horrible... so hoping i can prove her wrong! lol

you're welcome for tea! shall i do the whole bag? lol
