Manchester Restaurants - top picks

Just wondering if you are familiar with eateries in Manchester City Centre, which are the top restaurants you would pick out for a special occasion. Dinner for 2, marking a special anniversary, looking for really great quality food though not necessarily the most expensive in town. Nice atmosphere.
I've heard mixed things about Michael Caines' place, so just wondering what are your picks please?

San Carlo's beside Kendals on Deansgate.

Lounge 10 near the Town Hall. Very intimate. Food at both excellent.

and I know you said City Centre but Jem n I in Didsbury is fabulous food and a lovely atmosphere. In town...do you like Japanese? Samsi on Whitworth Street is great.

Lounge 10 is fab and really unusual.

Not been to Abode but know of people who have and say it is really good.

I also like Gaucho Grill for steaks
