Need some advice on slow cookers

I'm thinking about getting a slow cooker because several people have told me they're great and because I cook a lot of stews. I'm just wondering though, do you have to brown your meat and fry off your spices before putting them in the slow cooker? For example, does curry powder taste ok in a slow cooker if it hasn't been cooked a little first?

Any advice on using a slow cooker greatly appreciated.

Thanks x

No need to brown the meat, I never bother.

Just make sure you don't put too much liquid in as it doesn't evaporate and you end up with a sloppy stew.

Slow cookers are fab for curries as the flavours have time to really mingle

Good Luck!
