Mould on curry paste, can it still be eaten?

I've got half a jar of thai curry paste that I just scraped a good chunk of mould off. Could I still use it do you think? I know it's fine with jam, just not sure with curry paste. Was thinking of cooking it up today so was wondering what people though...

I have done this before - thin coating of mould only. I made sure to fry the paste beforehand and then bring the curry to boiling, as I figured this would kill any bad stuff still in there. We were fine, but now I'm pregnant I admit I would probably think twice about doing this again...

It wasn't a thin coating, it's a big chunk - most of me says it'll be fine but there's just a niggle that says maybe not. Hmmm...

I heard it wasn't a good idea to do it with things like jam as the spores can protrude into the food as well as sitting on top of it.

But if you're fine with jam normally I'd do it. Mould isn't that harmful, just tastes horrible.

I wouldn't. having just had 2 slices of toast for lunch, looked into the bag as I reached for 3rd slice and seen huge blob of mould growing from bottom... no ill effects as yet but the idea is nauseating. Ew.

Def not if I was feeding the resulting curry to anyone other than myself.

you have to scoop about an inch further down from the surface, as the mould will be growing 'roots'

I didn't in the end. I decided to give DD some so thought it best not to. If it had just been me I think I would have but a sick toddler is not something I want to risk.
