I'm planning to make one of the princess cakes with doll for my daughters 4th bday.
Would it be ok for me to make the madeira sponge skirt bit this fri and freeze it for a week? ...... then take it out the following fri evening to defrost and ice it the next day?
Any top tips gratefully received
Thankyou!

Yes, that would be absolutely fine. Double wrap it (greaseproof, clingfilm, greaseproof, clingfilm) to prevent freezer burn, and make sure it is completely defrosted and at room temp before icing. Are you using fondant or buttercream?

Thanks for replying. I've bought some ready to roll coloured icing, will I need to put buttercream under that to make it stick?
