Will a 5lb Chicken feed 6 people?

Just panicked as I unwrapped our chicken that it might not be big enough - have all the trimmings, bacon, chipolatas, roasties and a pile of veg...

Which is fine - but maybe there won't be very much actual meat each????

TIA.

According to MN lore, not only will it feed 5 people, but you'll be able to make another meal out of it and boil the bones for stick (which apparently counts as a whole 3rd meal even though all the chicken contributed was stock).

!!!!!

Thank you.

Nice theory re the extra meals, but this family are very greedy hungry and I suspect there will not be a scrap left!

Yes... a 'serving' of meat only needs to be about 4oz - 6oz. Two poeple have a leg each and the rest share the breast and wings. If you've got bacon sausages etc and plenty of veg to go at, no-one will go hungry. BTW... even if they eat every scrap of accessible meat, you can still roast up the bones with some veg and make a very tasty stock for another day.
