a dried apricot.....me and DD usually eat them happiy, but i pulled this one open to look inside...thinking to myself if they dry in the sun etc they must have insects buzzing around them etc....

anyway, i pulled it open and there was a dried up maggot in side...fgs i then went on to open the whole packet, some were normal and other inside looked like they were full of erm little eggs......am i imagining this....

yuk! We had this and they are a devil to get rid of. Check any other dried fruit, packets of sugar etc that are in the cupboard and you may see little moths flying around the kitchen or even maggots on the ceiling.

yuck I've had this with dried porcini mushrooms was wondering where all these little moths were coming from

you are supposed to soak mushrooms in boiling water for 30 mins so they can float to the top but you kind of expect it with wild mushrooms not apricots

Don't know how they are dried to be honest(never been to a dried apricot factory) but they have a high natural sugar content and chemicals are sometimes added to preserve them longer.

these were organic apricots...i guess would mean they are even more likely to contain ere.... extra bits....

i wish i had never opened it! I will have to inspect each one b4 eating them ever again

If the packet was still sealed then probably from source but if open either it could have got contaminated in the cupboard or the larvae could escape to other foods .
