Baked Beans

Help................ We live in France and MIL sent us over some baked beans! Lovely - except they are the huge size catering cans! Presumably once they are opened, they have to be eaten within a few days. What else can i do with them except the obvious 'on toast' and 'with jackets'!

Many thanks,
Liz

You could stick them in a soup or casserole and freeze maybe?

LizinFrance · 08/06/2011 15:28

Good idea thanks. They will bulk out a casserole nicely.

Casserole is good with sausages in.

I also like making toasties with them with cheese.

Also favourite quick tea as a teenage/student was pasta cheese and beans. The bean juice acts as a pasta sauce!

mmmmmmmmmmm..... nice and quick too! Tea for tomorrow i think.

Thanks,

can also do a casserole with chicken or pork and i add a glug of tom sauce, garlic clove, chopped onion, glug of white wine, glug of stock and mixed herbs or thyme.

Never tried any of what I am about to suggest but reckon they would be lush:-

Shepherds pie with some baked beans in the mince

Baked bean pizza

Giant sausage roll with baked beans (layer of sausage meat with beans in the middle wrapped in pastry)

AngryFeet · 08/06/2011 22:41

Oh and apparently you can freeze them Smile
