Vegetarian Meatballs.................?

MarsLady · 14/11/2005 13:45

Can you make them with Quorn mince?

Can you make them at all? If so.... how and what with?

Am doing meatballs and spaghetti for tea and DD1 is a confirmed veggie (though not too keen on veg... work that one out lol).

So... can you help me please? Am going to the supermarket a bit later, have Quorn in the freezer..... anyone?

Please!

I've never tried making them, sorry.
I think Quorn do some kind of meatball - think they're called Swedish meatballs?

unicorn · 14/11/2005 13:49

mars..
You can get Quorn swedish style meatballs, and they're not too bad actually.

Thinking of doing them for the kids tonight, with Spag too!

I've never tried it so don't know how it tastes but I did see a recipe once which used Quorn or TVP to make meatlessballs - it was basically a pack of Quorn mince (or TVP), a packet of sage and onion stuffing mix, and an egg to bind. Mix them in a bowl then squidge together with your hands, then fry them.

gingerbear · 14/11/2005 13:51

could you use a nutloaf type recipe and bind using eggs?

or get a felafel mix?

MarsLady · 14/11/2005 13:53

thank you WWB and ginger

mmm, Felafel, salad and pitta bread for tea, yum...
What is that sauce they serve with felafel? Tahini?

MarsLady · 14/11/2005 13:56

Tahini indeed!

hunkermunker · 14/11/2005 14:59

That's a coincidence, Twig - I chortled as I read!
