Mickey Mouse cake disaster...HELP!

I am making a mickey mouse cake for my DD.

I decided to make it with the marshmellow fondant icing. We live in Spain and we can't get the normal ready roll stuff.

So, how on earth do I get it black enough. At the moment I could make a lovely dark grey elephant!

when do you need it by? can you buy supplies online?
i suspect you would need a powdered colour or something so that it doesn't make it too wet??

i am no expert btw, just going on what I learned when I had to make Thomas for ds1 Confused

Making the cake now!

The icing is getting wetter...add more icing sugar, it goes grey!

We are trying with coco powder insted at the moment, it is getting darker

Oh well, we are going to have a funny dark grey, slighty green mickey mouse!

We will eat it in the dark!

Very disappointed...my duck last year was fab!

After being so upset last night, I left the fondant and covered the cake this afternoon while DD was napping.

Now it is rolled out it looks great. it isn't black, black, black. But it does look very dark.

Thanks for your idea
