I've got plain flour, eggs, butter, sugar & sultanas. What can I bake with DD age 6? Already done bonfire night bics!

Have you got any milk?

You could do pancakes with eggs, milk and flour (touch of salt)

Or scones. Plain flour, rub in butter, add sugar, milk and raisins. MUCH nicer than shop bought.

Welsh Bakes

8oz plain flour
pinch salt
tablespoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon ground mixed spice
4oz margerine or butter
3oz sultanas
3oz soft brown sugar
1 egg, beaten
2 tablespoons milk

Sift flour, salt, baking powder and mixed spice into a bowl, rub in the butter until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs. Stir in sultanas and sugar.

Make a well in the centre and add the egg and 1 tablespoon of the milk, mix to a pliable dough, a little softer than shortcrust pastry. Add extra milk if needed.

Knead the dough lightly and flatten to 1/2" thickness. Cut into rounds with a 2.5" cutter.

Bake for 20 minutes at 200C/GM6. Cool on a wire rack.

Have you got any bread? Make a bread and butter pud for tonight

MamaG · 11/11/2005 13:08

I can't stand bread and butter pudding!

Although that might not be such a bad idea, since I'm supposed to be on a diet
