Ice cream maker recommendations

I would like to get an ice cream maker as I really fancy making my own ices. Have made a few without any gadgetry but feel like treating myself to a new kitchen appliance!

Any recommendations (or duds that I should avoid)?

I have a fairly simple one by Magimix. Think it cost about £40. 1.5l capacity. The bowl has to be pre-frozen overnight, then you attach the paddle to the top. Pour in your liquid ice-cream ingredients, press 'start', the paddle keeps everything moving while the bowl does the freezing, and it's done in 20 mins. Did consider the posher versions that freeze and whip all in one but the expense put me off.
