DD (8) needs a new lunch box, she has spotted one of those quaddie things and likes the idea of little compartments. I do too, but the compartments look a little small (how would you fit an apple in for example?) The lack of a handle puts me off too.
Where can I find a lunchbox with compartments that is a bit more flexible?

i bought 2 of those recently, they are good, but the compartments are slightly small! Have to cut an apple up! The drink bottle is a bit naff, they arent great to clean either, and i think they might get broken easily.
The kids do like them though.

Do you have a Poundland near you?? -

I was surprised to pick up a good one from there recently - 3 perfect sized compartments & integral knife & fork too - apple does need cutting up though (& swished in a bit of lemon juice) but I have to do that anyway, due to them not having much time to eat & DD reckons it helps

www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B002KKCLPA/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_1?pf_rd_p=103612307&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B0001MQGXW&pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_r=1KA59DXX9XV38HKS2RAM

is this the quaddie? all of mine have these, and it is only a pain for the one that has to have a stupid book bag rather than a decent sized bag. The others shove them in the bags. TBH it has saved so much money on putting cartons in to lunch boxes, and I put a sandwich and tube yoghurt in the bottom, a cple of biscuits in one bit, and some small berries in the other. It does alter what you can put in tho.

Yeah that's the one, I just don't think it's gonna suit. The compartments are a bit small even for dd who's not a particularly big eater.

Cheat/cheapskate compartment: I use a clip-it container and just compartmentalise things using little silicon cupcake moulds.

you may be right - some things don't fit. I have fallen in love with it a bit though - it's so easy to clean and the water bottle is great.

I second the idea of a Bento Box, they come in many sizes and shapes.

You're all kind, but what I'm looking for needs to have a handle and be big enough to hold a drink as well as a sandwich, fruit and biscuit. This is why we decided against the slimline quaddie thing. I've been googling like a mad thing, but I think it might not exist, this is probably the closest thing to it, but I'd prefer something a bit cheaper Grin

How about the slimline quaddie put in one of these lunch bags with a handle?

Have always been impressed with the Sistema boxes and drinks bottles which are the only leak free ones I have found!!

shrinkingnora · 14/05/2011 20:42

After wrestling with all sorts of different ones we ended up with this in pink for DD (7) as we got fed up of the broken hinges/apples not fitting/cracked plastic etc It is really well made and has no seams in the lining so no food gets caught unlike other fabric ones. It doesn't fall open at the wrong moment like the metal ones and is a decent size. Really tough - had it since September and it still looks brand new. The water bottle fits in really snugly too. It has aged me considerably trying to find a good lunchbox solution....

shrinkingnora · 14/05/2011 20:43

We had that lunch bag Rachel! It was lovely but has really bulgy seams on the inside that catch loads of food - but with a quaddie type thing that wouldn't matter.

What's that posh homewares shop that people use on here? Like the Boden of homewares?

Think they had some good ones people swore by...

foxinsocks · 14/05/2011 21:03

Lakeland

Can't see the one on there that I was thinking of

I am going to try one of those non slimline cube jobbies. I'm amazed there isn't a bigger range of lunchboxes like this tbh
