and is it any good? I seem to have vague memories of my mum using it for pastry - does that sound right?

Their website makes it sound like the wonder ingredient we've all been using for generations...

I've used Trex for cakes and 'butter'cream filling before when asked to do dairy free for a friend, it worked really well.

I have used it for pastry because my wife doesn't seem to like lard (I think it is all in the mind) and I don't think it holds the pastry togetheras well as Lard when rolling it out. May be that is just me subconciously wishing it was lard, which is tastier in my view.

i used it to make tortillas last week. it felt wrong. but not as wrong as lard.

I made Cornish pasties using Trex for the pastry once, but won't use it again - lard was much better and somehow I didn't need to use as much of it to get the right texture.

yes, I use it for pastry (bizarrely have the opposite experience to Tyelperion). It is also excellent for roast potatoes.
