I just cannot visualise this obviously commonplace dish?

What shape are the onions and potatoes cut in to? Could you mean saute?

gingerbear · 07/11/2005 15:19

I am soooo tempted to write- pots in the dishwasher, DH chops onions - but I wont.

Twiglett · 07/11/2005 15:19

cut 'em up small
throw them in a roasting tray
drizzle oil over them and mix till coated (add garlic I suppose if you like)
then roast on high for 20 mins or so, turning halfway

would that do?
still don't know what you're talking about though so complete guesswork

saute sounds a bit more like it..... must be a german dish as everyone seems to think I am mad asking the question

hayleylou, i think i had what your talking about whe i was skiing in austria, does it sometimes have crispy bacon bits in as well?
its sauteed pots with bits of cripsy onion and bacon
so, chop up pots into quarters, par boil for 7 mins
chop up onions and bacon into little bits and fry until cripsy, then add pots and fry on high heat until crispy too!
think they used to grate cheese over, nice low fat meal, yum!!!!
