It's a family celebration, and we have offered to host it in our garden.

I was thinking of doing a simple bread and cheese supper it will be at 8ish, so I think most will have eaten a meal, so I'm trying to just do a nominal but interesting, nibbly snack.

So, loaves of various bread for people to cut themselves.

Various cheeses.
Souped up olives.
Homemade slunbush tomatoes.
Homemade chicken liver pate.
Homemade mackerel pate.
Posh crisps.
Proper butter.

The celebration cake for pudding.

Although my DM has offered to make an Eton Mess/Pavlova/Posset sort of thing, but I think just the cake will be sufficent. Confused

Do you think that's ok?

Or would you do actual puddings?

Anything else you can think of to compliment?

Thanks everso.

Grin at mini milks!!

No veggies, so that's less complicated, phew.

Actually trixy, that was misleading - it's 40 DC at a 5yo's party, which is better, perhaps, maybe?

Although, finding a party bag that suits from a 3yo to an 11yo is flopping tricky.

Sad

Treasure hunt with sweets or chocolate coins. All finds pooled in central pot. Eldest 2 children to divide loot equally between 40 cellophane bags with raffia ribbon. Party bags sorted.

Definately go the hotdog route for the DC party.

I would def expect more than nibbles if I had to leave my house at about 5pm and wasn't eating until 8pm.

Ham is a great idea as is chicken, add some salad leaves (nothing fancy) and some new potatoes. Or you could do the bread and cheese route and have some cups of soup. I would definately do something other than cake for pudding - DH is the only one in our family who likes a traditional cake and we are not unusual in that!

Sorry.........

It's okay. I have capitulated on the pudding front. DM is doing Boodle's Fool and Pavlova, I shall do chocolate brownies and lemon drizzle pudding.

Taffeta, that's a fantastic idea, thanks everso.
