Ribs - pre cook, but for how long?

Before putting them on the barbie to brown up/go nice and sticky, I want to cook them so they tenderise, but how long for?

Steam them for 15 minutes, leave to cool then coat in the marinade of your choice. Yum.

I put them in the oven for 20/25 mins

Will get them out shortly and do as driftwood suggests before slapping on the barbie!

Bit late now, but for really falling off the bone ones, simmer them first in water with star anise, clove, coriander seeds for about 25 minutes. Then marinade, then oven for 20/25 mins (about 200c) and then finish on BBQ for the added yummyness.
