Found an old champagne

I just opened a box in my dining room and found a Heidsieck and Co gold top 2000 champagne. Only problem is the tasting notes with it say drink by 2008

So is it likey to still be ok or have I got something horrid on my hands?

Was the bottle horizontal or vertical - if the former it will be WONDERFUL - the latter no way to tell - I can pop over to try it with you if you like :-)

Did you drink this? I would love to know how it was! My guess was that it was had gone wee bit flat and tasted a tad oxidised (i.e. a bit like apple juice).
