Meal Planning

Hi all,

I need to do a cheapish shop this weekend rather than the £130 ish pound I normally spend so have had quick look in cupboards/freezer to see what I can use up and have made a rough list. For all you that always meal plan, do you plan lunches too or just evening meals?

Also, do any of you have time to share with me your meal plans for this week? I could do with some inspiration but additionally it might be something I will take up long term if it works for us this week. So far I seem to have too many pasta dishes on my menu.

Thanks

what meals have you got.

Lunches tend to be egg (poach, dippy) with toast. Soup or sandwiches.

Have to say I'm hopeless at lunches and boring.

So far got - spaghetti bolognese, BBQ over weekend, roast chicken dinner at some point, veggie pasta bake.

For lunches we tend to have soup, sandwiches or eggy bread with some salad an dip but I always struggle and find lunches a real chore.

Me to, I hate lunchesGrin.

What about a fried rice with chicken and veg and some chinese 5 spice. Or a frittata type ommlette.

I do it with either just potatoes & onion with eggs and some cheese, or with any veg left in fridge or as DH calls it dying veg ommlette with salad.

"Dying veg omelette" love it! We have a pizza recipe for similar ingredients lol.

This week we are having

Asparagus Risotto
Chicken and chorizo salad
Roast chicken and all the trimmings
Bang bang chicken with the leftover chicken
One pot roasted veg and sausages with broccoli
Spinach and ricotta tortellini with parmesan

Lunches are half price pizzas, picnics, soup, sandwiches or something with egg.

Breakfasts are cereal, pancakes, fruit and yoghurt

would this thread be any good.

i'd like to start a new one every week to make it a bit easier to read but dont want to seem controlling, but i love peoples meal plans

i'm planned for the next few weeks.

i tend to look at whats in the cupboard and plan for a few weeks, that way say i'm making risotto and i will be opening some parmesan i will plan pasta or something a few days later to use it up.

That's a great thread Storm and I would also contribute if there was a thread every week. I'll do a post now to see if everyone would fancy joining in each week and see which day would suit most people for the thread to start.

Fab idea.

i dont usually plans lunches , but when i have the kids off, like for a school holiday, i sometimes make pinwheel pizzas.

get some ready rolled puff pastry and lay it flat, cover with passata, leaving an inch gap all round, top it with ham, cheese and herbs, roll it up, cut it into inch sections and lay them flat on a baking tray, wash with an egg and dried herb mix and bake in the oven for about 15 mins

its dead easy, or you can leave it unrolled and serve it as one large pizza
