confused about halogen versus induction hob

We need to get an electric hob built into our new kitchen so we can cook in the summer when the aga is off. I'm not sure what the difference is between a ceramic indutction and halogen hob, please could someone explain. Any recommendations? All I know is I want one with touch controls i.e. flat ones not knobs that stick up. Any advice gratefully received.

Bit of a bump as I'm trying to work out which to get at the moment too.......

Hmmm - I can't explain the difference but I know that my DH could if he was in the country! Just wanted to say that I've seen several pans that say that they're suitable for all hobs EXCEPT induction, so might be safer to shy away from that option.
