Chard?

A neighbour said chard was ok for salad, but I tasted a bit, and no, that's not happening. Is it more like cabbage, kale, or spinach? Any good recipes? (We're having poachedish salmon, and rice)

chard is like spinach - not very inspiring but I steam mine - it is yummy on the side with salmon.

It is like spinach, only not as tasty when raw and it's slimy and horrid when steamed for more than about 10 seconds.
My dad grew bushes of the stuff last summer and foisted most of it on us. Personally I think it's vile.

I ended up stirfrying it with a bit of crushed chillis, and a tiny bit of sugar. It came out pretty well. Not slimy.

it tastes very nice as a vegetable in a curry (I shoved ours in our lamb curry and it tasted delicious)

Stir fry in a little olive oil with garlic, yummy and very nutritious. Works better if you separate stalks from leaves and cook stalks a bit longer.
