I ordered from Riverford this week as an experiment - am pleasantly suprised by how good it is

Not sure how the cost compares though - I will have to work that out. Anyone else using this company?

Yes we do. We get the medium box costing £15.45. They sent a price comparison list a while ago to show that weight for weight, they were cheaper than the supermarkets' (Tesco, Sainsbury, Asda, Morrisons) organic equivalent..

Thats reassuring boogiewoogie. I haven't been buying organic veg though so will probably still be more expensive for me. I like the idea of the boxes to support local farms as I hate how much gets spent with supermarkets.

Have you ever tried other products from Riverford - dairy/meat/bread?

We get a Large box and a fruit box a fortnight. Comes to about £30. We get a better range of veg with a large, and don't end up with a zillion carrots and spuds which we would if we got one every week. It also means I can still buy the odd out of season thing (peppers, celery etc) to supplement. there's 5 of us (2 adults, 6yo, 4yo and 1yo) and it does us pretty well.

I sometimes get yoghurt from them too, but we have good shops around us so tend not too. Very occasionally (maybe once in 18months) we get a meat box. Although they're expensive, I think they are quite good value as the meat is tasty and can be stretched out a long way. Wait until your freezer's empty though!

I do have the odd fit of pique and stop it for a bit. But I find the alternatives just don't compare. Having to lug spuds home from the shop is a pain and our other local veg boxes are a bit hit and miss.

HI, I get mine locally from a company called avid organics. She is based near Sheffield and covers that area and some of West Yorkshire too. I always feel like Riverford cover a lot of miles so try and source mine from a more local organisation. The lady also does homemade organic bread and cakes as well as catering. It's all delicious and great value!
