I've just made scones for the first time since I was a teenager. Used Nigella's recipe (half quantities - my word that would have made a lot of scones!) and added 100g sugar - too much? I thought I rolled them thick enough but perhaps not. They have just flopped and spread everywhere - a right old mess 
Does anyone have a failsafe scone recipe, and shouldn't they be sweet?
These are to have for tea with clotted cream and jam.
