I've been given a slow cooker. Cooking time advice needed please.

1st attempt at using slow cooker given to me by a friend last wk. Found a recipe for sausage pot which has been cooking nicely since earlier today. Recipe says 5-8 hrs cooking time. So what I am wondering is how do I know when it is ready within those times? TIA.

It will be ready after 5 hrs ,unless any of your veg are a bit hard still. Give it a prod and see. If it is all tender it will be fine.

That's great, thanks. Carrots sliced very thinly using slicer. Smells delicious, can't wait to eat it!
