Chinese five spice

Does anyone know where I can get this? I have tried 5 supermarkets in my town and none of them do it any more. I have an old jar with the ingredients so I could, in theory, make my own but I'd rather drive 20 miles :o

got mine from asda... how about online?
Maybe now is the time to question what 5 spices are in it....

Do you have a Chinese supermarket near you? I got mine from there but I can normally get it in the supermarket. Which ones have you been too?

Star anise, cinnamon or cassia, cloves, fennel seeds and sichuan pepper - Schwartz do it, but I'm surprised you haven't been able to get it. It's very easy to make though.

Here is a recipe to make your own from scratch - although you need to source Szechuan peppers first (found mine in a supermarket, any ethnic store should do).

waitrose sell it.

Thanks everyone. I posted this in a fit of frustration and then promptly forgot about it Blush

I'll check Waitrose next time I'm there and use Dona's recipe if that fails :)
