Making burgers...I have a question :)

Ok, I know you can make posh, fancy burgers....

What I would like to know is, can I make them with mince, onion and an egg to bind them. Then gently fry them in a little olive/sunflower oil?

Thanks :)

Do what you said up there ^^, then roll them in a little flour then flatten them. Nice with a few herbs in too, like oregano or marjoram.

If you 'massage' the meat i.e. squish it about a bit with your hands as you're mixing in the onions, then you don't need any egg. Proteins released from the meat as you squish it are very sticky and they will hold everything together.

Great tip chil, thank-you.

Great :) thanks!

I will add the egg tho. It has iron in it.
Ds2 (and possibly ds1) is anemic so I need to add iron where I can.

If there's a problem with anaemia & you want your children to absorb as much iron as possible from their food, it's important to make sure they get plenty of vitamin C at the same time. So that might mean they have a glass of fresh orange juice with their burger or something like kiwifruit (particularly vitamin C rich) for dessert. As vitamin C isn't stored in the body, they'll need to keep topping up throughout the day. Good luck

If you find that there's not quite enough meat and you need to stretch it a bit, add some breadcrumbs or couscous. A spoonful of Worcester Sauce makes anything with beef in much nicer, IMO

Thanks :)
Ds2 is on iron medication but ds1 isn't.

They were ok, not fab ! I'll add the sauce next time :) can't add breadcrumbs as they usually have things in that ds2 can't eat. Actually W sauce prob has soya in it... :(
