Coconut milk for infants?

Hello -- I thought I might add a little coconut milk to my ds's pureed bananas, for a tropical flair! He is 7 months old, and, so far, allergy free. Any thoughts? Is it a potential allergen? His formula contains coconut oil, so I think that means the milk would be safe. Thanks in advance! And happy weekend!!

What an enlightened idea! I have no idea! . Interesting that the milk contains coconut oil as am trying to get hold of some as is apparently good for weight loss. - A farmer gave it to his pigs as cheeap fodder and they all lost weight.

A la leche league leader I know used to make cocunut milk icecream for her cows milk allergic dd. Sounds like a nice recipe.

run: I'm extremely surprised that anything with coconut oil could be a weight-loss aid! I think that it is among the oils that we adults are all supposed to avoid because of its extremely high saturated fat content. Perhaps it's worth investigating a bit more... I never found anything worked for weight loss except more exercise and less food!

Having looked it up it appears that it is true! The claims are that it also helps with IBS, crohns, diabetes etc. Something to do with the content being very close to mothers milk. Anyway if anyone is interested a good web site is this one . One big draw back is that it appears to be £14.50 a pint!! Possibly exercise is preferable

I looked again and it helps with cronic fatique syndrome - perhaps it is worth it after all! Sorry to hijack your post MumofLeo! I will do some research for you to make up for it!

Well as promised MumofLeo it looks as if it is fine. I found a website (Babycentre) with a few recipes that included coconut milk from 7 months. HTH

Some of the baby organix jars contain coconut. Ds has many allergies but he is fine with coconut derivatives. Though, like Robin, we have been advised to avoid it.

thanks, all! ds will soon have his bananas with a touch of the tropics!
