Smoothies - Age

Hi all,

DS 4 has either an Innocent or Happy Monkey fruit smoothie every morning with his breakfast. DD 15 months has got to an age where she is now kicking up a right stink as she wants one too but I'm not sure if she should really be having them. I know it's only mashed fruit but she normally only has water or her milk and I avoid squash etc.

Thoughts please.

It is only mashed fruit and juice but they are full of (natural) sugars.
I make smoothies sometimes for DS and thin them down with milk so he can suck them through a straw! I use frozen berries that I let thaw overnight, a ripe banana and some yoghurt and milk.
If you made something like that, you could do a milkier version for your DD to lessen the impact of the sugar.

give her vegtable juices instead if you are worried about the sugar content, carrot and apple is the only fruit and veg you can mix though and water it down very well for her being so little, I would then move on to the smoothies with lots of crushed ice later

Thanks both.
