How do I make these batman cupcakes?

Can anyone help me? First problem is that I cant find a batman cutter the right size - need one about 6 cm in length for my 7 cm cupcake cases, and all the ones I've found online are too big. Second problem is, how do I best cover a cupcake with the yellow fondant? Is it simply a case of cutting a circle approximately the same size as the cupcake case diameter and plonking it on top? Is it better to make cupcake with flat tops or 'rounded' ones for this?

Any help gratefully received!

Flat top cakes are much betetr for this type of thing. You could cut out the fondant and put it on like in the photo.

There's a small batman cutter here and they ship to the UK.

Thanks Waffling. Unfortunately even the small cutter is still too big, but that's a great website! Thanks for the link and tips on covering with fondant.

just a thought but you could have a go at making your own template out of card then using it to cut around the sugarpaste
or failing that have a look on ebay/amazon for cupcake edible toppers

Yes, I've seen a couple of blogs which did that. I'll give that a go if I can't find a cutter. Thanks!

The tops are cut with plain fondant (avail from cakeshops or you can buy white and mix yourself).

The "bat" cookie cutter, you'll just have to search through cake supplies on the net I'm afraid. Try Hallowen too...try below

Thanks for all your help and links. I don't seem to be able to find a cutter small enough so have bought a scalpel and will give the stencilling a go .

I went further into the flickr and the lady who made them said that her DH used an unwanted cookie cutter and reshaped it.

FMM do a set of tappits for celebrations which have a bat that would fit on top of a cupcake.

Here They're not strictly batman but they might be less fuss than cutting them all out by hand.
