Maple Syrup Ideas

We had our pancake day a bit late - Tuesday's are just too complicated for me to start making pancakes we wouldn't eat until bedtime. So we had pancakes for breakfast the following Sunday and I got bacon and maple syrup to go in them.

Very nice and a big hit with DD who had never tried that combination before.

Last Sunday we had Staffordshire oat cakes with bacon and maple syrup.

But we still have an awful lot of maple syrup and it was quite expensive really, more than £4 for a nor very big bottle.

Is there anything else I can do with it? I don't want it to just migrate to the back of the cupboard where it gathers dust and gets forgotten.

Any ideas or recipes would be very appreciated.

Oh yes,

There's Jamie Oliver's pan fried glazed pork chops from Ministry of Food

You could try chicken in a maple glaze, for example www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/325607/maple-and-pepperglazed-chicken-with-roasted-carrot

Root veg such as carrots, sweet potatoes and parsnips are nice done with a glaze too.

I think pecan pie has maple syrup in. Yummmeeee.

Go to bbc website and the food bit. You can search under ingredients.

Make sure you keep it in the fridge once opened (not cupboard!) or it will very soon develop mould over the surface

Yes to cooking root vege with it.
Have it on porridge.
I have a recipe for a cake with whisky and maple syrup somewhere - I can try to dig it out if you want it.

Nigella Express has a superb recipe for buttermilk marinated chicken thighs and 1 tbsp of maple syrup is one of the secret ingedients. My DD (v v picky eater) loves it.

Great on oatmeal porridge as well.

Chop banana into natural yoghurt and sweeten with a dribble of maple syrup.

Oh thanks everyone! I am going to follow those links and try some of those ideas. Good that there some savoury as well as sweet ideas.

I will also move it to the fridge forthwith.
