Bagels - what do you put on them?

Just bought some for the first time and looking for inspiration. Do I just treat it like bread and put butter/ham/cheese/whatever filling on?

My favourite is a Reuben:

Mayo on one half, Mustard on the other, then on the mustard half (the bottom) put grated cheese and pastrami then grill until bubbling. top with Saurkraut (gerkhins are a good substitute) and put the mayo half of the bagel on top.

Smoked salmon & cream cheese is very traditional

I like bacon on mine

My dcs love them toasted with a mixture of marmite & philadelphia, which is actually yum.

Any sandwich type filling's nice too.

My favourite is v lightly toasted with Philadelphia.

DD like apricot jam & Lancashire cheese on hers

Houmous or peanut butter on a toasted bagel is nice.

Stick in toaster, then some cream cheese (or my fave, cream cheese with garlic & herbs or chives or black pepper) and top with a slice of good salami.

Or, smoked salmon (we sometimes get the packs of trimmings, which are v. cheap) with some creme fraiche mixed with lemon juice.

oooh i love bagels

my 2 ways are as follows

toasted bagel, rocket, tomato thingly sliced, crispy maplecure bacon, mayo and black pepper

toasted bagel, mini bagel sized cheese omlette, bacon and more cheese with tomato ketchup...

Toasted is far nicer than untoasted IMO.
