You know, the one with breadcrumbs and herbs on top? Is it any good? Good enough for a semi posh dinner party?

OMG - never do anything new for a dinner party - you must be mad. Go for tried and tested every time. I have done several things from JOs 30 min book and not all recipes have worked - I prefer Nigella. I really wouldn't risk it. IMHO Mary Berry's recipes are far more reliable.

Thanks for reply. I know, a lot of people say that, but it doesn't look that tricky and haven't got that many tried and tested recipes that I want to do....

I suppose I could try it earlier in the day
I quite often do something new for a dinner party, see it as an excuse for experimenting!

It was quite nice but not amazing. Mind you maybe I was still reeling from the cod which cost me £17 for family of four.

i thought the cod dish (if it is the one with the minty mash) was yummy - and easy - but agree that worth trying first. Plus, it was heavy on the washing up - seemed to use lots of pots.

I thought it was ok not great for the effort. I think the seabass dish in his book is much better for a dinner party

In the 30 min book or the Tony Blair one?
Think I need to get thinking cap on again!!

Sorry the 30 min meals one (but I got the recipe off the internet)

mikestand - why don't you try pollock instead of cod. you can hardly tell the difference and its much cheaper - better for environment too. morrisons is very reasonable for fish - though i hate the rest of the store.
