I just don't understand the craze. The ones I've seen on sale look overcoloured, overpriced and all that gloppy icing and twinkly stuff doubtless hides a very dry bit of old sponge.... brrr! Discussion on Woman's Hour yesterday put forward the idea that the whole cupcake thing infantilises women by dressing up children's party food as suitable fare for grown-ups. Rather agree with that. Sad

I love cupcakes and am really enjoying having the variety about now.

Fairy cakes aren't the same. and btw, I can't remember them being around much when I was a child.
