freezing chicken that started off frozen?

I'm going to make chicken curry in a big batch so I can freeze it. My chicken pieces are in the freezer waiting to be cooked right now. Will it be safe to refreeze it as a cooked meal?

I'm so good at poisoning myself, thought I'd better check!

Yes. You can freeze it once after cooking. When you defrost it again, reheat it thoroughly and eat within 24 hours.

You can't refreeze raw chicken.

Once cooked it is safe to refreeze it - cook it, cool it, then freeze it. Once defrosted make sure it is piping hot before eating.

Yes... it'll be fine. Just remember to defrost the cooked meal thoroughly and re-heat it to piping hot before eating. Don't re-freeze the frozen meal...

Ahh, thankyou ladies! I had an idea, but wasn't 100% sure. No more waste in my house Smile
