failed pink popcorn...

Tried to make fabulous pink popcorn for birthday party tomorrow. Link here:

www.partypieces.co.uk/thepartytimes/?p=1605

Didn't work, I now have popcorn and red sugar.

The sugar/water mix which should have cracked in a glass of water, never did! I gave up testing and just as I poured the popcorn in to be coated, the mix turned into red sugar!

Where did I go wrong? What does it mean by 'cracks'?

Can I add more water to the red sugar and reheat?!

Should I just buy some crisps?!

All suggestions welcome...

'cracks' means you need to boil the sugar mix for so long that when a drop is dropped into a glass of water it hardens immediately and is of a 'snapping' consistency.

i would make the popcorn again but just use coloured sugar. a few drops into some sugar as the food processor is moving should do it Smile, then sprinkle it onto the hot corns
