I just wondered if anyone knew what the recommendations were on this.
My dd is 2 and sometimes I have given her still spring water when the kettle water is too hot.

But I wondered if this was ok for her?

AFAIK Evian is suitable for babies as the level of sodium is quite low.

Why don't you give her tap water?

Carameli · 22/10/2005 21:01

thanks Carmenere.

hunkerpumpkin, well both me and dh have drunk mineral/spring water for years so I guess I just felt we shout give her the same.

Oh, fair enough - just wondered if you were boiling water for her still.

I think, by 2, she should be fine with any still mineral/spring water. The (tiny) amount of salt in some waters are only a big deal if you're using them to make up a newborn baby's formula feeds, IYSWIM.

there's a big article on the front of the DM today about levels of uranium in bottled water and whether its right for babies

Carameli · 22/10/2005 21:19

hunkerpumpkin, well I hate the taste of tap water so I guess if I don't give her bottled water I give her water bfrom the kettle. Not sure why I still do that really, habit more than anything I guess.

I heard about uranium and babies this morning on the radio, so I suppose thats why I started to wonder if its ok for her.
But she is 2 now.

if she is 2 she can consume pretty much anything (except whole nuts) and obvioulsy very salty foods! that an adult would eat

spring water is no better than lots of tap water! (in our old house we had spring water, we drank it, coked with it, bathed in it, flushed the loo with it and watered the garden with it!!!
