Because im useless at that type of thing.

Im doing chicken thighs in hickory sauce with sweetcorn salsa. Only i couldnt ge the hickory sauce, so im using peri peri smokey bbq.

The recipe goes like this:

Place chicken in 1.2 ltrs of water, bring to boil and drain
Heat oil and fry chicken in batches
Sautee onion garlic and pepper, stir in sauce ans simmer
Pour over chicken
Add sweetcorn and spring onions, chilli snd parsley.

So what iwant to know is, can i brown off the chicken thighs and then cook in oven (how long for). Then reserve a bit of sauce and make the salsa on the hob

Thanks in advance fir any help

why are you parr-boiling first - odd!

personaly I'd marinade the chicken thighs in the sauce then brown in a frying pan - then remove the browned thighs - sautee onion garlic and pepper in the pan you've used to brown the chicken

throw the lot including the sauce into a casserole and bake at about 180 for up to an hour

make salsa on hob

HTH

I always brwn off chicken before i put it in th ovn, wh is that odd?

The peppers, garlic and stuff forms part of tha salsa so it woulnt go in woth the chicken.

So would you just bung the chicken in the saice and cook in th oven then

brown off chicken absolutely

boil it in water and drain first - odd

dunno - I'd just bung it all after browning tbh

mosschops30 · 09/03/2011 16:52

Oh right yeah i thought that was odd too, but thats what the recipe said.
