I don't live there but my parents live near there and go to Harehatch/Sheeplands in Twyford and I know my mum is pleased with meat/other produce she gets there

this is a good place to look for you...

www.bigbarn.co.uk/

Tells you where all the local farm shops/butchers etc are around you... good tool!

ijudge · 07/03/2011 13:17

I don't know I'm afraid - you could ring and ask? They have a website www.harehatchsheeplands.co.uk

Have to say some of the best quality meat (chicken breasts/fillet steak) I've found has been Costco - but farm shop it is not!

ijudge · 08/03/2011 09:59

DO you know the source of it pleasenap?

No, sorry. If you're looking for the provenance of stuff then you're better off going with farm shops or local butchers (altho' Waitrose might be OK).

There's a good local butcher in Hurst too.

ruralmum1 · 10/03/2011 12:14

There is a great butchers in the town centre near primark (think it might be opposite). Good deals and the meat is v good quality. I buy all my meat there now.

Farm shops are rare in Reading, but there is one just outside - sheepdrove organic farm shop and farm, hungerford. Tjhey also have shops in bristol and london.

There was a lovely little deli in st mary butts but unfortauntely has closed down now! such a shame

Vickers is the one near primark ruralmum, can you el me how a kg of mince would be or a meduim chicken?

I went to Lockley farmshop and was impressed with the prices

The one near Wellington country park is good but the name escapes me! I will look now

FessaEst · 10/03/2011 22:55

There's a farm shop between Tidmarsh and Theale - can't think of it's name though.

Also, Greens in Pangbourne is an award winning butchers.

There is also a farmers market alternate saturdays on Great Knollys rd, where the Reading Bus depo is.
Very cheap, and do very good eggs, meat and HM cakes.
