Hi all,

Less than a week to go and I am starting to think about pancake day. Just wondered what your favourite filling is?
I much prefer savoury pancakes, peanut butter is a favourite, or cheese but I'd like a bit of inspiration please Smile

Can't stand savoury ones.

I love lemon and sugar, or golden syrup.

Ok, so how are thy different from both the American pancakes and French crepes?

American pancake, obv, with lots and lots of maple syrup, crepes with creme de chataigne.

Moosemummy · 03/03/2011 21:42

Banana, peanut butter and nutella (defibrillator standing by)

Honeydragon · 03/03/2011 21:47

american -sausage and syrup

sweet - butter and castor sugar

savoury - going to try the salmon one, but also like homemade hamburger and homemade tomato sauce with a poached egg on top.

winnybella · 03/03/2011 22:05

Well, will someone pleasetell me what the difference is?

BuzzLiteBeer · 03/03/2011 22:22

pancakes are just the regular thin ones, crepes are the super thin ones that are more desserty, and american are the thick ones. As are scotch pancakes.

winnybella · 03/03/2011 22:38

Thanks, Buzz, I didn't know there was something between the American and the French ones.

NormanTheForeman · 03/03/2011 22:39

Cheese, mushroom and tomato.

ShowOfHands · 03/03/2011 22:45

If I make drop scones I prefer them sweet but pancakes are best with cheese, some sort of spicy cured meat and black pepper.

TooManyButtons · 03/03/2011 22:49

Some of these suggestions are just, well, perverted! Cheese? Mushrooms? On a pancake?? Hmm

Lemon juice and sugar. Everything else is just wrong!

AliBean · 03/03/2011 23:03

Gallettes- French buckwheat savoury pancakes
Crepes - French sweet pancakes

Proper pancake day = ham, cheese and egg (runny yolk) gallette followed by lemon and sugar crepes nom indeed!

We have pancakes all the time... either the above, or american ones with blueberries, crispy bacon and maple syrup or seafood pancakes rolled up and baked in creamy sauce

... flippin lovely!

Honeydragon · 03/03/2011 23:22

those sound wonderful
