I'm running out of ideas for tea, especially as DP is so bloody fussy has very high standards (he does cook a lot himself too). Would be v grateful if anyone has any recommendations for a great non-meat cookbook, with lots of fish! Am getting tired of macaroni cheese, puff pastry tarts and pasta with tomato sauce ... many thanks!

Pescatarian.

Yes, I'm aware of that Katherine, it just sounds so flipping poncy!

I have Hugh F-W's River Cottage Fish Book, which I love (but I like reading cook books generally).

Thank you Poledra, if it's specifically a fish book though, does it have lots of recipes with more expensive unusual varieties? My fish efforts at the moment are generally based around fish pie, so cod, smoked haddock etc, tuna and salmon, bit boring I know, but they're easy to come by and not too dear!

Sorry for being poncy. Grin

Nah, Hugh is well into sustainable fish, and tries to use the cheaper less popular ones. I cooked gurnard for DH and I one night based on Hugh's recommendation (I was slightly taken aback that it was not gutted mind you - not that I have a problem doing it, it was just a bit of a surprise). The recipes also offer a number of different types of fish that you could use.

This is a sample of the sort of recipes he does

Good Food 101 Fish & Seafood Dishes

I love this series; it's simple, clear and everything works and tastes great (that I've tried so far anyway!).

Thanks Poledra and AKMD, will give them a try!
