18mths because of the risk of choking

Mummyvicky · 19/10/2005 12:11

I just let them see me cutting the niblets off the cob with a knife into their bowl- alot easier to handle !

handlemecarefully · 19/10/2005 12:17

Risk of choking? - don't think this just 'goes' at 18 months. And sweetcorn kernels are much smaller than halved grapes (which we can give)

Sorry - don't mean to rudely contradict you fredly ....

mymama · 19/10/2005 12:20

I gave corn on cob at 9 months with no problems. When cooked really well I don't see how a baby could choke as kernels are quite plump and soft.

sweetkitty · 19/10/2005 12:21

Do you mean sweetcorn pieces or actual corn on the cob?

Have given DD sweetcorn from about 7-8 months she loves it only thing is it comes out the way it goes in.

Would give her corn on the cob in her hand now as well. (she's 15 mo)

LadyTophamHatt · 19/10/2005 12:23

Ds3 was about 15 months when he became obsessed with corn on the cobs.

I spoke to the HV to check he could have it and she almost laughed out loud. Like I'd asked some ridiculous question

She said by that age they should be eating everything you eat.

I'd say 13 months is fine.
